Dahlia's Garden

This is a comic I made called "Dahlia's Garden." I only had 3 weeks to write and draw it, and while it's not perfect, for being my first comic I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I tend to pride myself on my detail and shading, so drawing in a more streamlined and simplified style was a challenge to me, especially when it came to expressions. Overall, I really enjoyed making this comic and learned a lot about framing and conveying information through a limited amount of panels. Personally, I think pages 7 and 12 are my favorite; they're the turning points of the story, so I really wanted to make sure they came across as dramatically as I intended and were visually appealing.

I chose to draw the comic in a simple, watercolor style to evoke the childlike way that Heather sees the world. However, the colors reflect the mood of the story. The colors start off bright and saturated, get significantly darker during the night scene, and are muted and bleak by the end.
