Fabric studies I did to learn more about rending different materials, specifically in traditional media. All physical paintings were done with acrylic paints. Beforehand, I was very inexperienced with traditional painting. I'd messed with it a bit in middle school, but never seriously. Traditional painting is so much harder than digital; the lack of an "undo" button and having to hand-mix colors made these studies quite challenging. Completing these pieces taught me a lot about color and how to depict fabric in a more accurate yet stylized way. Conveying the various textures and folds with only a handful of brushes was surprisingly difficult yet fun.
Taking what I've learned from my acrylic paintings, I did a series of digital paintings. Just like there's no eyedropper tool in traditional art, I avoided color picking and instead tried to match colors as best I could just from sight alone.
